Although it's hypocritical to this post I made I broke down and got a mac mini, I got a good deal on the last gen Intel 2Ghz, 1GB Ram, 160GB HD. I won't tell you how much, but to me it was worth not having the headache of trying to update a very hacked together small form factor PC. For all intents and purposes, this box will be used for very mundane video crunching duties, playback for the most part. It will be replacing me having to dangle my laptop onto my TV, it will always be on, and be ready and running boxee, itunes, and pandora, as well as connected to an airport express in my backyard (hooked up to outdoor speakers). I am also planning on trying to get a firewire output capable stb, to do basic recording of tv programming, we will see how that goes.

I think one thing I still want to do is, hackintosh a media box, for video editing, motion graphics, and music production work. Something that will replace my aging PC in my office. I think with a larger form factor, I will have some cheaper, and more ubiquitous components to choose from, that will make the job of hackintoshing a PC far easier. I also chatted with my good friend, about trying to hackintosh a newer laptop, which he talked about needing. So we will see how that goes.

In short hackintosh is stil on the mind!
